New interstage heat exchanger project 143-C for process air compressor 101-J

State:

The purpose of this project is the replacement of an inter-stage heat exchanger of the 143-C air compressor to reduce CO2 emissions at our Palos de la Frontera plant.

Objectives

We have been beneficiaries of the grant programme "Energy efficiency in SMEs and large companies in the industrial sector” promoted by the Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía (IDAE). The aim of this aid programme is to encourage and promote actions in the industrial sector that reduce carbon dioxide emissions by improving energy efficiency.

This project, carried out at our plant in Palos de la Frontera, involved the replacement of an interstage heat exchanger of the 143-C compressor for process air 101-J at the ammonia plant. The previous 143-C heat exchanger cooled compressed air in the second stage of the compressor via cooling water. The new equipment allows, by means of a new design, an increase in heat transfer, so the efficiency of the compressor for process air 101-J has been slightly improved, reducing its energy consumption.

Other project data
