Sandra Fernández, a student at the José Inglés Infant and Primary School in Chiloe Ches, Guadalajara, was the winner of the first prize. Sara Arias, from A Rúa (Ourense), and Elvira Castilla, from Zalamea la Real (Huelva), received the second and third prizes, respectively
- The competition received more than 8,000 entries from students from 1st to 4th grade of primary school from all over Spain.
- The company has awarded €9,000 in study grants and multimedia equipment, plus €1,000 in support for the Parents’ Association for the prize winners’ schools.
Madrid, 05 March 2024 – The annual Fertiberia Children’s Rural Painting Competition has once again attracted the participation of thousands of students from 1st to 4th grade of primary school in rural communities with less than 25,000 inhabitants, who are aware of the importance of highlighting the wealth of the agricultural environment and the environmental values of the rural world.
More than 8,000 children from all over Spain took part in this edition. Their works have been inspired by the agricultural environment, and have explored themes such as life in the countryside, the preservation of biodiversity and the development of crops.
- Sandra Fernández, a student from José Inglés Infant and Primary School in Chiloeches, Guadalajara, has won first prize for a landscape of crops.
- Second prize went to Sara Arias, a student at the Manuel Respino Infant and Primary School of A Rúa, Ourense, for her work on the grape harvest.
- Elvira Castilla, from the San Vicente Mártir Infant and Primary School of Zalamea la Real, Huelva, was the third prize-winner for her representation of the bread-making process.
The children’s talent and commitment were recognised with three study grants for €6,000, €2,000 and €1,000, respectively. In addition, each of their schools received a complete multimedia kit valued at €1,000, and a further €1,000 for each school’s Parents’ Association (AMPA).
Through this initiative, Fertiberia collaborates with the educational development of rural areas in Spain, inviting their inhabitants to highlight the values of life in the countryside, the importance of the agri-food sector and its influence on environmental conservation.
