Improvements to the nitrogen cycle
Nitrogen is the most frequently limiting macronutrient for agricultural production.. The need to apply nitrogen fertiliser every year in agricultural systems to ensure productivity, together with the ease with which nitrogen can be transformed into mobile forms that can lead to losses of nitrogen to the environment, has led to an interest in the search for innovative solutions to minimise this risk.
Objective
The project focuses on researching and developing nitrogen cycle modulators in the soil that are effective and environmentally friendly.
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture and lessening the effects of nutrients leaching into bodies of water are a priority for both our company and the European Commission itself.
The INNVIRONMENT project is carried out with the collaboration of CDTI.

As nitrogen is an essential macronutrient that often limits agricultural production, finding innovative solutions is vital to minimise losses to the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The INNVIRONMENT project is an example of cutting-edge biotechnology: it involves the research and development of biotechnological products, such as modulators of the nitrogen cycle in soil, capable of improving the efficiency of nitrogen fertiliser use in a sustainable and safe way.
