Madrid, 25 February 2025. The annual Fertiberia Rural Children’s Painting Contest, now in its 28th edition, once again saw the participation of thousands of students from 1st to 4th grade in rural communities with fewer than 25,000 inhabitants. The contest aims to raise awareness about the richness of the agricultural environment and the environmental values of rural life.
This year, thousands of children across Spain submitted their artwork, all inspired by the agricultural landscape, exploring themes such as life on the farm, biodiversity preservation, and crop development.

- The second prize went to Mateo Toledano Portolés, a 1st-grade student at CEIP L’Hereu in Borriol, Castellón, for his piece on vegetable harvesting.
- Nadia Pérez Ruiz, a 4th-grade student at CEIP Maria Montessori in Renedo de Esgueva, Valladolid, won third place for her representation of cereal harvesting in the fields of Castile.
“At Fertiberia, we are proud to support the talent and creativity of young people, especially in rural areas, which are key to our business and environmental sustainability. This painting contest is a way to foster a love for nature and agriculture, while also promoting the education and development of our children. We are convinced that initiatives like this can inspire greater awareness of the value of the environment and life in the countryside, contributing to the growth and well-being of rural communities,” said Alfredo Segura, Fertilizers Sales Director at Grupo Fertiberia.
The talent and commitment of the children were recognized with study scholarships worth €6,000, €2,000, and €1,000, respectively. In addition, each of their schools received a complete multimedia kit valued at €1,000, and €1,000 in support for the Parents’ Association (AMPA) at each school.
Through this initiative, Fertiberia is contributing to the educational development of rural areas in Spain, encouraging their inhabitants to promote the values of life in the countryside, the importance of the agri-food sector, and its role in environmental conservation.
