Madrid, 23 January 2024 – Fertiberia continues to expand and consolidate its range of environmental products with the development of a water treatment grade ammonia, primarily intended for use in processes for purifying water for human consumption. Fertiberia is currently the leading ammonia manufacturer in Spain and is in the process of transforming itself to lead the development of low carbon ammonia in the European Union.
Water treatment grade ammonia is part of its diversification strategy with state-of-the-art, high value-added products that contribute to improving health and well-being, and it also enables emissions to be reduced in sectors such as the chemical industry and transport. “We have developed an optimum product with high quality standards to meet the needs of large companies that manage the integral water cycle,” says Javier Palomino, sales director for Industrial Products at Grupo Fertiberia. To this end, the company complies with the UNE EN 12126:2022 standard, which guarantees the excellence of this new reference.
Fertiberia holds considerable experience in the design of wastewater treatment products, thus enabling a large number of industries to comply with the regulatory standards established by European and national environmental legislation.
The launch of water treatment grade ammonia reinforces the production diversification of the Palos de la Frontera plant (Huelva), the largest ammonia production centre in Southern Europe. “We harness the full potential of our plant, located in the Port of Huelva, a logistics-maritime hub undergoing a full expansion, thereby favouring our access to the international market”, Palomino highlights.
