Potassium nitrate. In potassium nitrate, 100% of the nitrogen is in nitric form that can be absorbed immediately, and it further contains 46% water-soluble potassium. Potassium nitrate is a very soluble source of nitrogen and potassium, so it can be applied to the leaves or injected into fertigation systems. Due to its purity, high solubility and low salt index, it is an essential fertiliser in fertigation and it is applied to all crops, both herbaceous and woody.

Its composition is 100% free from inert matter and its ingredients can be fully absorbed by plants. Applying nitrate allows the plant to minimise how much chloride it absorbs whenever this anion is present in the soil solution or in irrigation water, which makes it critical for crops that are sensitive to chloride such as citrus fruits and tobacco.
