CARBON DIOXIDE – CO2
Carbon dioxide is a liquefied gas that is slightly acidic, non-flammable, odourless and colourless. CO2 is heavier than air and is water-.
This gas is produced at our ammonia plants in Palos and Puertollano and is obtained from the combustion of natural gas used as a raw material to produce ammonia.
Carbon dioxide is widely used:
- Food: Beverage carbonation, packaging, cooling, and freezing.
- Deburring and grinding.
- Neutralisation.
- Applications in metal processing.
- Catering.
- Medicine: metabolic mixtures.
- Cellular plastics: extraction of super critical fluids.
- It is also used as an extinguishing agent by cooling fire (in the form of carbon snow) and making it difficult for flames to come into contact with oxygen in the air.
