Objectives
The aim of this initiative is to renew the chemical components of the CO2 absorbing solution for other, more efficient solutions to reduce energy consumption at the Puertollano plant.
The main objective of this project is to reduce the energy consumption of our ammonia production plant in Puertollano by replacing the chemical components of the CO2 absorbent solution with other, more efficient components.
The improvement is determined by the lower energy required for its regeneration, which translates into a lower consumption of medium pressure steam in the Primary Reforming , which is the point where steam is added to the process. This steam comes from the high-pressure steam network and its reduced consumption means that more steam is available for other consumers, and therefore less steam is consumed, and in turn less natural gas is used in the auxiliary boiler, thus achieving the desired reduction in CO2 emissions.
