Industrial symbiosis
Industrial Symbiosis (IS) is increasingly becoming a necessity due to its high energy and resource saving potential.
Most of the investments in methodologies and tools that make it possible to update IS have focused on the assessment of possible solutions and synergies between individual companies. There are European initiatives relating to IS, but there is still a large untapped potential to make greater market absorption possible in industrial areas in the EU.
- CORALIS will condense available knowledge to demonstrate the real actions of IS and to establish appropriate conditions for the sustainable functioning of the implemented actions.
Objective
The main objective of CORALIS is to create pathways for the decarbonisation of value chains in resource and energy intensive sectors through the implementation of viable industrial symbiosis approaches that combine new business and management strategies with innovative technology-based facilitators.
- An innovative outcome expected from the project is the development of a Virtual Evaluation Platform for the operation of Industrial Symbiosis to be applied to a real industrial environment, enabling IS data management.
