Project description
This award, the purpose of which is to promote a rational and responsible application of fertilisers compatible with the criteria of sustainable development, is a clear example of our commitment to research, excellence and university talent.
This initiative was born in 1996 with the aim of supporting talent and research, recognising the best academic papers defended at universities in Spain and Portugal in the field of fertilisation and agronomic activity. It is organised in collaboration with the Official Association of Agronomists of Central Spain and the Canary Islands (COIACC) and, since its 15th edition (2023), it also features the participation of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM).
Since it was created, more than 500 studies from over 50 universities and research centres have been put forward and prizes worth more than €500,000 have been granted. Therefore, in addition to its significant academic prestige, there is the fact that it is one of the most well-funded prizes for agricultural research in Europe, with an amount of €30,000 each year.
26th Edition - Call closed
The theses competing for the award must deal with fertilisation, soils and soil amendment, although papers related to agricultural activity in general will also be considered.
Likewise, they must have obtained the maximum qualification "cum laude" in Spain or its equivalent in Portugal, as well as having been defended during the last academic year.
